Our history

Fiberline Composites is a Danish company founded by Henrik and Dorthe Thorning in 1979. Production was based in rented premises in the town of Kolding and initially employed two people. The first pultrusion equipment entered operation on 1 May 1979, and this is considered the company’s starting date. The company has grown considerably since then and consists today of a head office and technology centre, both situated in Middelfart, Denmark and a factory in China.

 

The company numbers a total of more than 200 people who share a common fascination with an exciting and innovative material.

Henrik Thorning

1979

Fiberline is founded by Henrik and Dorthe Thorning. The first pultrusion equipment enters operation on 1 May 1979, and this is considered the company’s starting date.

Kile

1986

Fiberline starts producing blade root segments for LM. Today production of these is still ongoing.

1997

Fiberline was initially based in rented premises in the town of Kolding. Now production expands as the company opens another factory in Middelfart, Denmark.

2001

Fiberline makes helihoist for the world’s biggest offshore windfarm, Horns Reef 1.

2006

Fiberline pultrudes profiles with carbon fibres for the first time.

2007

The company moves out of the premises in Kolding and opens Fiberline’s new 23,000 sqm headquarter’s in Middelfart.

2009

Fiberline goes global as the company opens factory in Tianjin, China.

2011

Peter Thorning becomes Fiberline’s CEO after generation change.

2016

Fiberline and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation form joint venture with focus on carbon fibre components for the wind sector.

2019

Fiberline China moves to a new factory in Tianjin, in order to make room for further growth.

2020

The Fiberline group is divided into two independent companies dedicated to each of their own segments. Fiberline Composites will now be fully dedicated to the wind sector.

2020

ABN AMRO’s Energy Transition Fund (“ETF”) invests as co-owner acquiring 34% of the shares in Fiberline Composites.

2021

Lars Fuglsang is appointed new CEO of Fiberline Composites .

Gurit acquires a 60% equity share of Fiberline Composites A/S.
